Oukitel K6 Smartphone Black

The Oukitel K6 is a Beautifully Solid Battery-life Beast!

It takes a certain amount of guts to go an purchase a smartphone like the Oukitel K6. Buying any smartphone that isn’t a household name like Samsung, LG and Apple comes with inherent risks.

But with risk comes great reward.

And the Oukitel K6 is one such reward that’s worth it. On paper, it’s got a big list of ticks next to it, covering everything from Display, Performance, Design, NFC, Face ID and Quad Cameras. Let’s not forget that it’s packing a huge 6300mAh battery inside with 3 amp fast charging.

Off paper, the K6 is a solid premium chunky beast, measuring in at 10.4mm thick and weighing well over 200 grams. Heck, it makes my OP5T feel like a flimsy skimming stone…

But the important question is, whether the K6 is good enough to warrant its relatively high price-tag? Let’s find out.

In this review, I’ll be aiming my beady eye at the K6’s Display Quality, Build Quality, Performance, Gaming, Camera Quality, Features and Battery Life. Feel free to skip to the sections that are important to you and don’t forget to check out the best deals below.

Design, Display & Build Quality

Oukitel have done a good job with the K6’s design. It feels well balanced, it’s subtle yet premium and it’s one of the best looking big battery smartphones available.

Build quality is excellent with no rough edges, seams or misalignments. While the battery cover is made from plastic, the pearlescent sheen looks great.

Once you turn on the screen, you’re met with a bright 18:9 full HD display. The top and bottom bezels are slim at around a 1cm, but, the side bezels are on the chunky side.

Viewing angles on the IPS display are good, black levels are okay and it comes with MiraVision support. You can use this to tailor the colour saturation, add a blue light filter and choose whether you want your white balance to be cool, normal or warm.

It’s also nice to see that the curved corner edges are perfectly round.

Overall, it’s a nice display and the build quality is exceptional for a smaller brand like Oukitel.

Screen Tech Specs: 6 inch display, 2160 x 1080 resolution, 403 PPI, 18:9 Aspect Ratio with curved edges, 10-point multi-touch.

Colours Available: Black & Blue

Oukitel K6 – Camera Review

One of the key features of the Oukitel K6 is its quad-camera setup. Two selfie cams and also a dual-lens setup on the back.

I took the K6 out with me to see how well it could perform. I found the images tended to underexpose leaving them feeling like they need brightening up.

While you can get some great pictures, you’ll end up with 3 bad ones alongside it.

HDR tends to overexpose the image. For some situations, it works, but most often you lose more detail negating the gains in exposure. You can see in the image below how HDR mode has brought out the detail in the hut. HDR left, standard right side.

Oukitel K6 HDR Mode

While I might sound negative about the K6, this is pretty standard for phones around this price. You can see all the photos below and make up your own mind.

Rear Camera:

  • 21MP + 8MP Dual Cameras
  • 1080P Video Recording

Extras

OTA Update:

Once you connect the Oukitel K6 to WiFi you’ll get your first OTA update. It’s 450Mb in size, will squash a couple of software bugs and takes around 5 minutes to complete.

Fingerprint Unlock

The fingerprint sensor is located on the back underneath the dual lens cameras. It works around 85% of the time as it’s on the small side. Unlock speed is okay, not lightning fast but you’re not growing a beard either.
