Can the 5.71″ Oukitel C16 Pro have a place today’s 6″+ smartphone world?

It’s a rare find when you see a smartphone as small as the Oukitel C16 Pro being released in 2019. Go back only 3 years though, and a phone this size would have been considered big & unwieldy.

But there’s something to be said about a phone that easily fits in your pocket and can be gripped one-handed without fear of dropping it.

And it’s not just the size, the Oukitel C16 Pro weighs in at only 153g which is instantly noticeable in your hands.

But what else does the little Oukitel C16 Pro have to offer? Let’s find out.

Oukitel C16 Pro Deals…

The Good

  • Low Price
  • Design & Build Quality
  • Dedicated SD Card Port
  • Dual 4G SIMs

The Bad

  • Small Battery (2600mAh)
  • No Fast Charge
  • Slow Finger Unlock

Oukitel C16 Pro Display

Display, Design & Performance

The Oukitel C16 Pro uses a HD resolution display giving us a resolution of 1520×720. This translates to a crisp pixel density (PPI) of 295. What this means for you is that text is sharp and you can see plenty of detail in videos and images.

The colours are okay, but not excellent and viewing angles are good. Overall though, the display lacks vibrancy looking a little undersaturated next to similarly priced phones.

Thankfully though, the budget C16 Pro’s backlight delivers with excellent brightness and acceptable black levels.

The borders of the display are fairly chunky, as is the camera cutout and bottom chin. It does use a 2.5D glass design though, with the curved edges of display blending into the curved metal frame, which helps to slimline its appearance.

It’s not a display that’s going to be impressing your friends, but the price might.

Screen Tech Specs: 5.71″, 1520 x 720 resolution, 295 PPI, 19:9 Teardrop Display, 85% Screen-to-body-ratio.

Performance Specs CPU: MediaTek Helio A22 (4 Cores @ 2.0GHz)
RAM: 3GB
Storage: 32GB (expandable up to 128GB via Micro-SD)

Oukitel C16 Pro Camera

Oukitel C16 Pro – Camera Review

While on paper, the C16 Pro features a dual camera module, the 2MP lens does little to enhance your photos. Smartphone cameras have improved a lot in the last two years, but you won’t be winning any awards with this one.

Rear Camera:

  • 8MP Sony + 2MP
  • LED Flash

Front Camera (Selfie time):

  • 5MP Selfie

C16 Pro Battery Life

Battery Life

Oukitel missed a big opportunity with the C16 Pro by only putting is a meagre 2600mAh battery. Due to the smaller display size and lower resolution, this is enough to get you a full days use.

But, if they had just squeezed in a 3300-3600 battery the C16 Pro, we’d easily see it lasting well into the 2nd days use.

The battery itself is removable, so if you’re wondering why your new Oukitel C16 Pro won’t turn on, then have another look in the box.

We’re also out of luck when it comes to fast charge with only a 5v/1amp regular charger included.

Battery Specs: 2600mAh (No Fast Charge)

Oukitel C16 Pro Unlock

Connectivity

It’s good to see that there are dedicated slots underneath the plastic battery cover for 1x nano SIMs and a micro SD card up to 128GB.

The C16 Pro uses micro-USB for data and charging and comes with the basic sensors. It doesn’t have a gyroscope sensor, which means augmented reality games such as Pokémon Go won’t work.

Fingerprint Unlock

Unlocking the C16 Pro by using the rear-facing fingerprint reader is painfully slow. It’s actually quicker to hit the power button and use a swipe code. Maybe this will be addressed in an update, but it’s definitely a con at this point.

UK Network Support: Full (4G, 3G + VoLTE)
US Network Support: No 4G (Full 3G)
WiFi: 2.4 (b,g,n)
Headphone: Yes 3.5mm
SIM Support: Nano + Nano + SD
GPS Module: GPS
Bluetooth: v4
USB: Micro-USB

Oukitel C16 Pro – The Verdict

The Oukitel C16 Pro has two main selling points, Number 1: It’s cheap retailing at around the £65-75 ($75-85 | €70-80), and Number 2: It’s small at & lightweight.

Once we move away from these two points, the wow factors are non-existent. If your budget will stretch, then check out the UMiDigi A5 Pro which has plenty of wow-factor but still stays under £100 marks.

Do we recommend the Oukitel C16 Pro? Only if size and price are your mains concerns.
